Company emergency plan

Something can happen in any company. Fire, an accident, a visitor who becomes unwell, etc. How do you act? Who should be warned? Who takes what actions? In order to limit the negative consequences of an emergency as much as possible, for a business operation, employees, visitors and / or local residents, a company emergency plan is indispensable.

The safety of people is also important for the continuity of business operations. In the first instance, when drawing up a plan, specific attention will have to be paid to the safety requirements that can be imposed on the building and its use, as well as how fire fighting is arranged. It is also very important that the responsibilities, tasks and procedures are laid down in a plan. Planning is therefore essential and serves, among other things, to identify the tasks and powers of all involved.

The plan must be submitted to the inspection body (often the fire brigade) for approval and in consultation. Any comments must be processed after which the plan can be finalized.

ARBO Rotterdam can relieve you of compliance with the legal obligations.

The terms emergency plan, emergency plan and the evacuation plan are frequently used interchangeably. An emergency plan or emergency plan is actually a collection of all procedures that must be followed in the event of an emergency. An evacuation plan is part of this emergency plan.

Does the company emergency plan meet the requirements?

Regular practice of a company emergency plan is necessary to assess the paper plan in practice and to familiarize employees with what they should and should not do if an emergency has broken out. In an emergency, good preparation is much more than half the battle. When practicing one of the scenarios, it can be stated whether the plans offer sufficient assurance to achieve the objective.

Of course, such an exercise should not present any hazards and it is important to try the right things. No matter how well this is thought about on paper, in practice it often turns out that it works differently in reality. That is why it is necessary to exercise.
